March 10, 1926

Today marks the birth of a great man and one of my favorite people. Stanley I. Wallet, aka My Grandpa, Devan's GREAT Grandpa.

Stan Wallet was born this day in Brooklyn, New York. He lived there for 50 years, and in 1976, he moved to Los Angeles. In between, he served in World War II as of April 12, 1944, then on Okinawa, and was recalled as an officer and a reservist in the Korean War. He got two degrees from Long Island University; in 1949, and 1976. After 15 years in California, he moved to Florida and will be here forever.

My grandpa has been a very important person in my relatively short life. While in California I spent many a Sunday afternoon at his house, with Grandma in Westchester. Sunday always consisted of Baked Chicken, playing in the backyard, working in the garage, watering the grass, sniffing the cork from "Grandpa's Juice" and usually some education. "Don't just sweep the dirt into the air. Put it in the dust pan and empty it" or "Take care of your things and they will last longer" or "Put things back when you are done with them". He taught me many things and is a great example of honesty, hard work, sincerity and patriotism.

My grandpa is the best. I always knew he loved me. He kissed me with his bristly mustache, took me on walks, he let me play with his tools, let me eat whatever I wanted and took me on errands with him.

We wish him a healthy and happy birthday

Love, The Walletclan
