Mothers Day

I had a wonderful Mothers Day. We drove up to my Mom's for the weekend and my sister flew in also. Poor John was the only male around all weekend, but he was such a good sport. My sister bought Devan a talking Dora and a ping pong ball gun. Devan loved them both and absolutely adores her Auntie Quinn. Quinn took her to the park twice and played soccer with her in the back yard.

John's parents took us out for dinner on Saturday night and on Sunday morning we went to their ward to hear my father in law speak. It's so great to have all our family so close. Sometimes I get a little sad because Devan has no cousins, but I must say it's also really great to have the only baby in the family because everyone is so involved and happy to help. But still- someone else in our family needs to have babies or Devan may never have cousins. And she may never have siblings now that I've seen what our new insurance coverage looks like!! I'm joking. Although it is pretty bad. Does anyone know of any insurance coverage that doesn't cost a fortune?

And what good is Mothers day if you don't get dessert? Here's a little something I whipped up at my Moms. Eclair Cake. It's one of my favorites! Try the recipe, especially if you've never had eclair cake.

Holy crap, that Eclair Cake looks DIVINE! I'm drooling. And we've had Kaiser for quite sometime now. (we pay it all ourselves) We still qualify (barely) for the kids to be on the Healthy Families, so it's a whopping $16/month for the 2 of them. My coverage is $200/month, but that's because I'm old :) The copays aren't bad, either.

Aflac and Conseco have a couple of programs just for hospital care that end up paying out BIG when you have a baby. You just have to sign up at least 10 months before your baby is born.

That doesn't really help with your health insurance, but at least having your next baby could be cheap.
